TWO offenders linked to over 70 thefts from shops and stalls across Coventry have been sentenced.

Billy Appleyard, 25 and 23-year-old Heidi James were charged in connection to thefts in several stores across the city over the last year.

In August Appleyard was confronted in a Tesco store as he walked out with six bottles of spirit, to which he said: “You ain’t stopping me, you can’t stop me, I am invincible, I do what I want.”

At a theft from a Coventry boots store, James can be seen placing multiple items in her handbag before walking out.

A bank card, cash and a driving licence linked to a car break-in on a nearby road were also recovered by officers searching James’ property.

Appleyard was charged with five theft from stores, theft of a motor vehicle and criminal damage and sentenced to nine months with a three-year criminal behaviour order and is prohibited from entering Coventry or any shop in the area.

James was charged with two theft from stores and sentenced to eight months.
