A POLICE officer was injured after conflict broke out between Coventry City and Sunderland football fans outside the Ricoh Arena this weekend.
An investigation has been launched into the ‘disorder’ on Saturday (September 29).
Tempers ran high among a small minority of supporters in the highly anticipated League One clash which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Coventry Police said: “As fans left the arena a disorder took place which was quickly intercepted by officers.
“A police officer received minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
“A 22-year-old man was arrested as he was leaving the arena and later charged with being drunk and disorderly.

Sunderland brought nearly 5,000 fans to the Ricoh Arena where overall attendance was over 16,000 and the vast majority of the crowd enjoyed a pulsating contest.
