POLICE investigating an unprovoked stabbing in Coventry have released images of a suspect.

Police say the attack occurred on Lower Gosford Street, city centre, Coventry, on February 15.

The incident left a 20-year-old man with internal bleeding and injuries to his spleen and liver.

He spent over a week in hospital but made a full recovery.

Detectives working on the case managed to obtain CCTV files from a nearby restaurant and a specialist digital team have been working to restore the files.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward following an attack they believe to have been unprovoked.

Detective constable Rob Tilley, who is leading the investigation, said: “We’ve finally been able to restore and access footage that captures the suspect walking past a restaurant shortly before the attack.

“We need to identify who this man is, and I’d ask anyone who can assist to contact us immediately on 101.”
