POLICE are investigating allegations of ‘racially-motivated assault’ on an 18-year-old outside a mosque.

The young man was attacked as he left evening prayers at the Eagle Street mosque in Foleshill at around 11.45pm on Sunday night (June 21).

Speaking about the incident, Foleshill Neighbourhood Police Team Sergeant, Mark Teago said officers are examining CCTV footage around the mosque and nearby alleyway, where it is understood the assault took place.

He added: “We’d ask for anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious to call me on the 101 phone number.”
