A PEDESTRIAN has been seriously injured after a crash in Coventry.
The man in his 50s was given ‘advanced trauma care’ following the collision on Harnall Lane East, Stoke, Coventry, at 8.30am today.
An ambulance, a paramedic officer and the critical care car from The Air Ambulance Service responded to the scene.
The West Midlands Ambulance Service says he was transported to hospital for further treatment and is in a stable condition.
A WMAS spokeswoman said: “The pedestrian, a man in his 50s, had reportedly been involved in a collision with a car and was initially knocked unconscious.
“When ambulance staff arrived he had a reduced level of consciousness and the team worked to carry out a top to toe assessment of the man.
“They found he had sustained a number of serious injuries which required immediate treatment on scene.
“Once in a stable condition, the man was immobilised with a spinal board and pelvic splint and taken on blue lights to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) for further trauma care.”
West Midlands Police said: “Police were called to Harnall Lane East, Stoke, in Coventry at 8.30am this morning (Tuesday, August 14) after a pedestrian was hit by a car.
“The pedestrian, a man in his late 60s, was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening at this stage.
“The driver of the car remained at the scene and assisted police with their enquiries.
“The road was re-opened at 10.50am.”
