AN OLYMPIC swimming legend has made a big splash at a Coventry leisure centre.
Multiple Olympic Gold medallist Adam Peaty came to the city’s Alan Higgs Centre to teach more than 100 local youngsters the art of winning a swimming race in one of his AP Race Clinics.
After being on deck coaching for the day, Peaty spoke to all the attending swimmers, parents and coaches about his journey, followed by a photo session where he proudly displayed his medals and signed autographs.

Adam Peaty taught local youngsters the art of winning a swimming race during his visit.
Adam rose to international fame when he became the first British man in over 20 years to win Olympic Gold in the 100 metre breaststroke at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
He cemented his place in history when he won Olympic Gold again at the Tokyo Games in 2021, becoming the first British swimmer to ever successfully defend an Olympic title.
Adam represented Team GB at his third consecutive Olympic Games in Paris this summer, beating the odds and adding a silver to his medal haul.
As the current world record holder in the 100m breaststroke, Adam is also an eight-time World Champion, 16-time European Champion and four-time Commonwealth Champion.
Adam said: “It is hard to describe how much of a privilege it is to be able to speak to many young athletes, sitting in the very place I was 15 years ago not far from my hometown.
“I believe swimming has long needed an evolution and the wider AP Race brand is about improving the experience for swimmers, parents and coaches.
“It was an amazing day in Coventry’s new swimming facility, with a group of enthusiastic, eager swimmers who showed willingness to become better than they were yesterday. We hope to see many of these swimmers back in the years ahead telling their story to the next generation.”
Laura Williams, centre manager at Alan Higgs, said: “Adam is a really iconic figure in the sport and we were thrilled to welcome him to the Higgs. He stopped for photos and chatted to guests – there was a lot of buzz.
“We’re incredibly proud of our world class facilities that allow us to host events such as this and hope Adam and his team will consider us for future activities.”
