NISA’S Making A Difference Locally charity has displayed its support to Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice by helping to fund a new dedicated nurse with specialist skills in end of life care.

The charity has donated £54,000 to the hospice, enough money to enable to hospice to recruit a specialist end of life nurse who will provide one-to-one support to children at the hospice.

Situated in Ash Green, the hospice provides 24 hour end of life care to children aged from 0 to five-years-old who are suffering from life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

Last year, the hospice provided palliative and respite care for over 30 babies and infants.

Facilities at the hospice include a multi-sensory suite, hydrotherapy bath, soft-play room, parent suit and sensory garden – providing a stimulating and comforting environment for the children and their familes.

Muna Chauhan, corporate manager at Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice, said: “Our specially trained care team offer unique and diverse opportunities for learning and play in a child-friendly environment.

“These services and facilities are provided free of charge to families of the babies and infants.

“This wonderful donation will help us provide support at the most difficult time.”

Since Zoe’s Place opened its doors in July 2011, the hospice has not been able to provide end of life care or round the clock service until recently due to lack of funding.

However the new donation will allow the hospice to improve care services.

Muna said: “Donations such as this are very important to us as the service we offer is provided entirely free of charge, and Zoe’s Place relies almost entirely on donations from kind supporters.

“We would like to thank Making a Difference Locally for granting the hospice this special gift and for truly making a difference.”
