NIGEL FARAGE will launch his new Brexit Party in Coventry this week.
The former UKIP leader and Member of the European Parliament (MEP) has been a figurehead of the movement to leave the European Union for more than a decade.
He has repeatedly criticised Conservative Prime Minister Theresa May and Parliament’s handling of the Brexit negotiations.
He says the extension of Article 50 delaying Brexit is a betrayal of the 17.4milllion people who voted to leave the European Union in 2016.
In protest, he formed The Brexit Party in January with a group of nine ex-UKIP MEP colleagues and they will officially launch in the city.
The new party plans to field candidates in every region at the European Elections on May 23.
The event is on Friday (April 12) at BG Penny & Co on the Three Spires Industrial Estate, starting at 11am.
The political maverick says his party’s ambition is to cause a revolution in British politics – and to end the traditional two-party structure.
The new party tweeted: “17.4 million voted for Brexit. Now two remainers, Jeremy Corbyn and Theresa May, are colluding to prevent Brexit.
“We must unite against the establishment.
“Politicians talking about ‘compromise’ and ‘working cross party’ is simply a way to betray the wishes of leave voters.
“They have never compromised, the establishment just want to stop Brexit. We won’t let them.
“Theresa May begging for another delay to Brexit is beyond a national humiliation.
“Our political leaders have completely failed us.
“Our two party system is breaking down.
“If you voted for Brexit both parties have failed you. That is why The Brexit Party is so important.
“We are the party for 17.4 million.”
Coventry North East and North West constituencies voted to leave the EU while Coventry South marginally voted to remain.
