THE LORD Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Coventry have officially opened the new cafe at the volunteer-run Finham Community Library.

Tea, coffee and, of course, cake was enjoyed as Cafe on the Green was unveiled.

Deputy Chair of Trustees Sue Vickery said: “The opening went well – everybody really enjoyed themselves at the opening and with the week of activities we had afterwards.

“We are looking forward to welcoming people to the cafe.”

Lord Mayor Coun John McNicholas said: “I am delighted that dedicated volunteers such as the Finham Group have enabled us to keep libraries open and I thank them for their continued commitment to their communities.

“I thought the cafe was a great idea – it is a wonderful place to go to have a nice cup of tea while you read your book and I’m sure it will be well-supported by everyone.”
