Myton Hospices to open new Earlsdon charity shop

THE Myton Hospices will open a new charity shop in Earlsdon, the charity has announced.

On Thursday, April 26 at 11am, the charity – who run end of life care services – will officially open its 23rd shop on Earlsdon Street, Coventry.

The charity says Lorraine Davies will be the shop’s manager, after starting her career in charity retail in 2012.

She said: “I first started as a charity retail volunteer when my daughter was admitted to hospital for surgery and I couldn’t work full time. I absolutely loved it and eventually trained to be a manager and have been working in charity retail on and off since.

“I left my last job in November last year and I was planning to take a year out but couldn’t stay away!

“I really enjoy working in this environment – it’s not often you get to do a job you truly love.

“I have always wanted to work for Myton because my mum was cared for by them so I have a personal connection.

“I’m hoping to make the Earlsdon shop into a real part of the community!

“I’ve already got some volunteers lined up who know the area and the people so it will be great to have them on board.

“We’re going for a boutique feel with the shop. I’ve been getting tips from other Myton managers while I’ve been working in their shops; everyone has been really nice and welcoming.”

The community is invited at 11am for the official ribbon cutting and first look at the new shop.

The charity has three hospices in Coventry, Rugby and Warwick, and have the only Inpatient Units in Coventry and Warwickshire.

Last year the charity supported more than 1,400 people and their families, in our three hospices, via patient and family support services, and in the community through Myton at Home.
