A BIG thank you has gone out to the people of Coventry and Warwickshire by The Myton Hospices after an ‘overwhelming’ response to its emergency appeal.
My Myton was launched last month in a bid to raise vital funds to help the charity get through the challenges posed by the pandemic as it is facing losses of more than £1million this year.
More than 125 people pledged at least £10 per month for 12 months or more, providing £18,0000 for the hospice group.
The charity’s shops are once again closed because of lockdown and the prospect of face-to-face fund-raising looks uncertain.
But the hospices have played a key role during this time by delivering services and supporting its NHS colleagues.
Myton CEO, Ruth Freeman, said: “We have had a fantastic response to ‘My Myton’ from our local community and we want to say a huge thank you to all those who have already signed up.
“We have been overwhelmed by your support, it really does make a big difference, at a time when we need you more than ever before.”
She added despite the setback, the charity had an unwavering commitment to its patients and their families and she was confident it could continue the vital services in the months ahead.
Everyone who joins ‘My Myton’ will receive a butterfly pin badge, a special thank you card and an update newsletter emailed each quarter.
The charity estimates 4,000 people joining ‘My Myton’ would plug the funding gap for this year.
