Lockdown

Coventry star couple Neville and Christine Staple plus The Neville Staple band have come up with another classic song.

This time, a haunting lockdown ballad entitled ‘Lockdown’.

Like their previous body of work, this one is Ska-perfection but the song is only a part of it.

For this is a Kickstart project so funders will have a chance of getting their hands on a unique package that includes the vinyl single with extra rare tracks in an autographed sleeve plus a fridge magnet and a designer face mask!

Neville and Christine are dedicating this to those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

With only be 250 available worldwide, there will be no more! So once they are gone, they are gone. Pre-order now go to https://www.kickstarter.com and search for “LOCKDOWN SKA 2020”

Counting Down the Days – Dave Linton

Dave Linton is a Coventry born multi-instrumentalist and keyboard player who began his career in the 1980s and has since performed alongside such names as current/ex Specials/Selecter band members Charley Anderson, Arthur “Gaps” Hendrickson, Charley “Aitch” Bembridge, Roddy Radiation and other local musicians in the band “Glasshouse”. Since then, Dave has gone on to work with a long list of talented musicians including Steel Pulse legends Selwyn Brown and Steve “Grizzly” Nisbett. Currently keyboard player/vocalist with The UB40 Experience (Tribute to UB40).

Now, he has a brand spanking new solo single on offer, so time for some questions.

Why this solo single now? “With recent interruption in opportunities to perform with live music shows and general UK touring, I have used the time to focus more on song-writing and recording.”

What does this song mean to you? “The song was inspired largely by the current lockdown situation and echoes the feeling shared by many around the country, who were doing seemingly fine, with life as normal, then suddenly, change appears….all the effects and loss associated with the COVID pandemic, people living in isolation, missing and longing to be with their loved ones such as parents, children, grandchildren, friends and partners/lovers etc. In effect, sharing the thoughts of “Counting Down The Days” until we can all re unite with of loved ones and a more “normal” life”.

Who plays on it? “I sing and play guitars, keyboards, bass guitar, brass section, with the exception of the drums, which were played by good friend and fellow band mate of The UB40 Experience, who as many of you may know, shares the identical name – Dave Linton”.

Future plans? “I plan to continue composing/recording and releasing new songs as well as resume performing live with The UB40 Experience and other bands when the time is appropriate and the entertainment business can be up and running again. The track is available on Apple Music, Google Music and other outlets”.
