Man suffers serious burns in Coventry flat explosion

A MAN has been rushed to hospital and another had a lucky escape from an explosion in a Coventry flat.

The fire started in the kitchen of a first floor maisonette on Laneside, in Willenhall at around 9pm yesterday evening (July 24).

Two men, both aged 28, were inside the flat at the time of the explosion.

Officers from West Midlands Police (WMP), West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS), and an ambulance and parademic support vehicle from West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) all attended the scene.




One of the men suffered serious burns to his back and was rushed to the regional burns centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

The other man escaped uninjured.


No arrest have been made and police will speak to the men after it is established how the fire started.
