A SUSPECT has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing in Coventry.

Police were called to an address in Newcombe Road just before 2pm on Saturday (March 15) after two men were found with serious stab wounds.

When they arrived, a man was found dead. He has today (Monday March 17) been named as Anthony Wilson, 50.

His family said: “We are profoundly sorry that his life has been taken in his way.

“The tragic circumstances are particularly distressing and we are grateful to learn of the help and support received at the time from his neighbours and friends.”

A second man, also in his 50s, was found with potentially life changing facial injuries and was taken to hospital.

Last night, James Ritchie, 51, of no fixed address, was charged with murder and attempted murder. He was due to appear before Coventry magistrates today.

Officers will be carrying out additional patrols in the area to reassure and support the community over the coming days.

Police urged anyone with information on the incident to contact them via the Live Chat facility at www.westmidlands.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting log 2298 of March 15.
