A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of sex trafficking after a member of the public reported a suspicious vehicle in Coventry.
Coventry Police said: “Our officers responded to the 999 call at 8.20pm last night (November 15) and found a man in a BMW X5 parked in Canterbury Street near Kildale Close, Hillfields.
“He couldn’t offer a plausible explanation for being there and a search of the car uncovered three knives, an axe and two identity cards belonging to an eastern European women.
“The 39-year-old, from Romania, was arrested on suspicion of possessing offensive weapons and trafficking for sexual exploitation.
“He remains in police custody for questioning and while we make enquiries with Europol and try to trace the two women whose cards were recovered.
“Good work by the member of the public in reporting their suspicions to us.”
