A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and arson after an incident in Coventry at 6pm last night.
Two crews of 12 firefighters from Coventry and Foleshill were called to the scene in Station Street East with the first crew arriving within two minutes.
A 59-year-old man was found at the scene with suspected stab wounds outside a house.
Firefighters gave him first aid before he was treated by West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedics and taken to hospital.
His wounds are not thought to be life-threatening.
There was a blaze on the ground floor of the property and fire crews led another man to safety.
The fire – believed to have been started deliberately – was extinguished by 6.40pm by firefighters using water jets.
A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and arson.
West Midlands Police say the two men were known to each other and officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
