A GUN has been recovered by police in Coventry after it was spotted by members of the public.
Officers were called after a bag containing the gun was seen in bushes in Bell Green.
They confirmed it was a live weapon and recovered it for further examination.
Enquiries are now ongoing to find out how the gun ended up where it was found, and who left it there.
It is believed the weapon was left there by its previous owners.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “Thanks to the public for their vigilance, this is another lethal weapon taken off the streets.
“Across Coventry and the wider West Midlands we are continuing our efforts against serious and organised crime, firearms and the people who carry them.
“All the information we receive from the public helps our teams build a clearer picture of where and when to target our operations and keep the public safe.”
