PLANS to build a new £50million headquarters for Kite Packaging in Coventry have being approved which will see more than 200 jobs brought to the city.

Since founding in 2001 the firm has quickly become one of the largest packing suppliers in the UK.

It has seven Regional Distribution Centres integrating into its national and international supply chain.

The employee-owned firm’s new site will be unlike anything occupied by a packaging company previously.

Several of the business’ operations, including central administration, compliance, B2B platform operation and a National Distribution Centre, will be incorporated in the Prospero Ansty Park centre which will be situated among other big names, such as Sainsbury’s, Meggitt and Rolls-Royce.

The 300,000 sq ft of logistics and 26,000 sq ft head office building are likely to make up one of the biggest construction projects in Coventry next year, epitomising the record-breaking growth Kite has experienced over the last couple of years.

The company has an urgent need for more space to fulfil the increasing demand for its packaging products.

The new location will boast state-of-the-art logistics to address the surge, dramatically increasing the efficiency of the firm’s operations.

Kite also runs several training academies, graduate and apprenticeships programmes, all of which will be based at the new facility.

Gavin Ashe, Kite Packaging’s managing partner, said: “As an employee-owned business, our greatest asset is our people, so having an amazing new home where we can continue to grow at the same time as having the space to learn and be creative is just fantastic.”

The new site will meet the highest standards for its team welfare and environmentally- it will use very latest technology to ensure it produces and stores all its own electricity and harvests its own rainwater.
