Inquest into stab victim Nasir Patrice's death opened and suspended

THE INQUEST into the death of 17-year-old Nasir Patrice in Leamington was opened and suspended this morning pending the ongoing police investigation.

A post mortem confirmed Nasir, from Birmingham, died in Tachbrook Road on Wednesday morning January 15 as a result of a stab wound to the chest. His family issued a statement saying they were “heartbroken”.

A 16-year-old boy from London, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with murder, attempted murder, possession of an offensive weapon, kidnap and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Eighteen-year-old Richard Talawila, also from London, has been charged with kidnap and attempting to pervert the course of justice.




The 16-year-old will appear at Warwick Crown Court on February 24 for a pre-trial plea hearing, ahead of his trial which is set to start on June 8. Talawila will also appear for a pre-trial plea hearing on February 24.

Another 16-year-old boy from London, who also cannot be named because he is under 18, has been charged with kidnap and perverting the course of justice.


All have been remanded in custody.

There have been four previous arrests in connection with the investigation – all of who were later been released on police bail.

A 33-year-old man from Leamington, a 17-year-old boy from Coventry, and an 18-year-old man from Birmingham who was injured in the incident, were all arrested on suspicion of murder. An 18-year-old man from Birmingham was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
