'In Paint We Trust' - Eye-catching mural of Coventry's cathedrals created on city's student accommodation

A MURAL of the iconic Coventry Cathedrals has been created on the city’s APPS student accommodation.

The mural depicts the old and new cathedral, with the Coventry Sports and Leisure Centre ‘Elephant’ centre visible in the distance.

Commissioned by Coventry Business Improvement District (BID), the mural is the first designed by CovKid, which creates graphic images of post-war architecture on mugs and t-shirts.

The stunning design was brought to life by members of the Graffwerk Street Art Team.

Coventry BID is helping to deliver the ‘In Paint We Trust’ project, which takes inspiration from local history and culture to create murals across the city.

CovKid said: “We set up Covkid to celebrate Coventry’s unique built heritage and create products for both locals and visitors to the city.

“The aim was to boost local pride and appreciation of the many gems that are hidden in plain sight.

“We are really pleased to have been asked to create a mural that has become part of the city landscape.”

Operations manager at Coventry BID, Adrian Woolford, added: “It’s been great to work with CovKid and Graffwerk Street Art Team to see this mural take shape.

“The finished artwork on APPS Living isn’t just relevant to Coventry’s history and culture, but is a great eye-catching advert for the talent we have in the city, and will act as a lasting legacy of Coventry’s culture for years to come.”
