Helping local art now on the menu in Coventry

Coventry Editorial 30th Oct, 2019   0

A GROUP of food retailers in Coventry have clubbed together to support local artists.

The Art Crowd, an artists’ collective working at Eaton House at Friargate, are being helped by purchases of beer, biscuits and coffee.

Twisted Barrel Ale, based at FarGo village, has brewed an ‘An Art Crowd Ale’. Wicked Cookies, based at the railway station, is selling an Art Crowd cookie, and Bean and Leaf cafe in Hertford Street is selling an Art Crowd coffee brew.

The Art Crowd said: “The aim of the project is to support local arts organisations and ethical local food and drink manufacturers.

“Each food and drink partner identifies a product on their menu as an Art Crowd item. For each sale this product they will make a small donation to the Art Crowd fund, which is going to be distributed to the organisations at the end of the year.”

Organisations involved include Artspace Coventry, active for nearly three decades in supporting the visual arts in Coventry, Talking Birds Theatre company, the Photo Archive Miners and the 2019 Coventry Biennial.
