MAJOR bank Halifax has launched the third ‘Halifax Giving Extra Awards’ to recognise and honour people who go that added mile to help the community.

Following on from the success of the previous two years, Halifax will once again be celebrating people in Coventry who give extra.

In total, 66 local Halifax giving extra award winners will receive £300 in bonus bonds vouchers.

From these winners, Halifax will select seven regional winners who will receive a grant of up to £5,000 to support projects that make a positive difference to communities.

Anyone can nominate those who work tirelessly to support their communities from today.

Halifax community bank managing director Russell Galley said: “It is very exciting to launch the third year of the Halifax Giving Extra Awards and point the spotlight on exceptional people across the country.

“The stories of our winners from the last two years have been amazing and inspirational.

“We have received thousands of nominations for people who work tirelessly to support their communities over the years and look forward to hearing about even more.

“These inspirational people deserve to be celebrated and that is exactly what the Halifax Giving Extra Awards are all about.

“Celebrating and supporting individuals who contribute to good causes such as these is a key part of our Helping Britain Prosper Plan.”

Charlotte Newbold, from Coventry, won a Halifax Giving Extra Award earlier this year for her charity work.

Charlotte raised funds for Acorns Children’s Hospice as it’s a charity very close to her heart.

She added: “To be awarded this fantastic achievement is an honour.

“A huge thank you to everyone who has supported me over the years I could not have done it without you.”

Nominations can be made in branch or online at www.halifax.co.uk/givingextraawards until Sunday (November 8).
