Group sought in connection with £35,000 worth of shop thefts

POLICE investigating £35,000 worth of shop thefts in Coventry and across the West Midlands are asking the public for help identifying a group of people.

Officers want to speak to the people pictured in connection with the thefts, which took place in Coventry, Birmingham and Walsall between November 7 and December 21.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “We take shop thefts extremely seriously, with our neighbourhood teams across all our Local Policing Areas regularly carrying out high-visibility patrols and proactive operations.

“We have also successfully prosecuted a number of prolific offenders, seeing them given jail time and Criminal Behaviour Orders to stop their offending. Along with custodial sentences, CBOs allow us to put restrictions on the movements and whereabouts of known offenders.

“This allows officers to arrest them if they are found in breach of the terms of their order by making it an offence to be in areas where they have offended before.”

Anyone who recognises the people pictured or might know more about the thefts is asked to contact police via the Live Chat facility at www.westmidlands.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting crime number 20/987093/24. Information can also be reported anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
