A GREENPOWER Kit Car built by motorsport students from North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College (NWSLC) has gone on display at Coventry Transport Museum.

The sustainable electric car is part of the museum’s Women in Motorsport exhibition which showcased achievements of women in the sport and offering a new perspective on diversity within the motor industry. The exhibition will be at the museum until May 31.

The students’ vehicle is due to feature in the Greenpower Trust race series. The Greenpower Education Trust is a UK charity which challenges young people to design, build and race an electric car, and hosts more than 35 regional events and an international final every year.

During the students visit they had a behind the scenes tour where they were shown how the museum shows goes about car restoration and conservation.

Steve Cassisi, Lecturer in Motorsport at NWSLC said, “Students are really enjoying working on the Greenpower car. Motorsport students are building it, and those studying body and paint as well as classic vehicle restoration will use the skills learned on their courses to help with the design, manufacture of the bodywork and the paint finish.”
