A GOOD Samaritan who stepped in to prevent an assault is being urged to come forward.

Police are searching for the brave passer-by who stopped an attack on a driver at around 7.10pm on February 9.

The 53-year-old female driver was stationary in her Red Lexus at the junction of Byron Street and Stoney Stanton Road when she edged forward and accidently nudged a woman who was crossing the road.

The pedestrian approached the driver’s side of the vehicle, opened the car door and punched the driver in the face a number of times.

Fortunately, a brave passer-by witnessed the attack, confronted the suspect and persuaded her to leave the scene.

If you are the Good Samaritan, witnessed the incident, or have any information email [email protected] or contact Detective Constable Sarah Vaughan from Force on 101.

Alternatively, call the independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
