Girl gives evidence in rape and trafficking trial of five Coventry men

A TEENAGE girl has denied willingly performing oral sex three times on one of three young men accused of raping her in a car.

The claim was made by the barrister representing Waqaar Khan (24) from Coventry, who has pleaded not guilty to six charges of human trafficking and 11 of rape involving six girls.

Standing trial with him at Warwick Crown Court are Kadeem Bourne (23), Kenan Kelly (18), Marcus Woolcock (22), and Zahid Chaudhary (20), all from Coventry, who deny various charges of rape, sexual assault and trafficking.

Prosecutor Andrew Smith QC has said that over a year six girls were persuaded by Khan, through Facebook, to meet with him in Coventry.

It is alleged ‘the true purpose of his arranging these meetings was for sexual exploitation’ by him and others.

And some of the girls were recorded on mobile phones as they were allegedly raped or forced to perform oral sex.

In an interview played to the jury, one 15-year-old from Nuneaton said she had been with a friend who had a call from Khan, also known as Ramiez, who her friend described as her boyfriend.

He suggested they get a taxi to Coventry, and when they were dropped off they got into a car with Khan and Bourne, and were driven to an area with some garages.

The girl said her friend was told to get in another car, and Khan and Bourne then drove off with her in a Peugeot car, with Bourne driving and Khan in the back with her.

She said she was told she would be hit if she did not co-operate, and that as they drove round the area they stopped at a petrol station where the two young men bought condoms.

When she asked what they were doing she was grabbed, and as she tried to fight back she was hit to the back of her head with such force that she lost consciousness.

She said when she came round Woolcock was in the back of the car with her, the other two in the front, with Ramiez (Khan) holding a phone as he and Bourne, who she referred to as KB, watched a video of them having sex with someone.

“I recognised it was me,” she said.

Two more cars pulled up, including a red Ford Ka. “KB then looked back and said ‘get in that car or I’ll beat you.’ As I was getting out of the car the ones in the Ka dragged me into it.”

The girl said Kelly, Bourne’s cousin, was in the Ka, and that Khan and Bourne also got in, and as they then drove around Kelly pulled her trousers down and had sex with her , before others joined in.

David Jackson, for Khan, put to her that she had given two different accounts to the police, and pointed out that in her first account she had said she had been raped by two men.

The girl replied that she had said three, but Mr Jackson said: “I suggest you said two men, and you identified them as KB and his cousin, who you knew as Sneeze or Snooze. You never said to the police that Ramiez had done anything.”

The girl answered: “I was confused, and tired, and angry that they’d done it. It was confusion.”

He put to her: “Let me suggest what activity did take place involving you and Ramiez. My suggestion is that you were doing it willingly.” She replied: “No I didn’t.

Tim Sapwell, for Bourne, put to her: “He says you gave him oral sex just the once, and that you did so willingly. That’s right, isn’t it?” She said it was not. The trial continues.
