Ryan Smith 3rd Apr, 2022

GAVIN and Stacey co-creator Ruth Jones is one of many headliners announced for the University of Warwick’s three day 2022 Resonate spring festival.

Jones, who studied a degree in Theatre Studies and Dramatic Arts at Warwick, will be talking about her life at the Coventry campus’ Arts Centre from 6pm on April 19.

The event is free to attend and will be running from April 19 -21 to mark the end of Coventry City of Culture.

Also on the guest list is award winning Birmingham crime writer Mark Billingham who will be running a masterclass between 5pm and 6pm on the same day.

The Family Fun Day on April 20 will feature a Circus Workshop by international festival favourites Flying Seagull, with one of the highlights of that evening being a Comedy Night featuring Ivo Graham, Marlon Davies, Fatiha El-Ghorri and Louise Young.

Ex-politician and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Ed Balls will be on campus for an hour from 7.30 on April 21, where he will be talking about his new book Appetite – a cross between an autobiography and a cook book.

Last May’s Resonate festival featured a mixture of live and virtual events as England was still in a national lockdown.

Resonate Festival director Helen Wheatley said: “As a culmination of Coventry’s year as UK City of Culture, we wanted to put together an exciting, diverse and varied programme for local communities across Coventry and Warwickshire with some very special guest headliners.”
