FORMER friends and colleagues of Coventry musician and tattooist Mark Nesmith who died following a petrol station stabbing is seeking to raise funds for his funeral.
The Grizzly Art Collective and Hales Street Studio have set up an online page to appeal for donations following the 35-year-old’s death on Monday after the incident at The Butts BP garage in the early hours of Sunday morning.
They hope to raise £6,000 for Mr Nesmith’s family and had already raised over £3,000 in the first 17 hours.
Friends of Mark wrote on the gofundme website: “This page is the official fund raising page created by Grizzly Art Collective and Hales Street Studio to raise money to help give Ness the farewell he deserves.
“All money raised will be going to the family of Mark.
“Thank you for your continued support and donations.”
A 21-year-old man from Coventry has been charged with his murder.
Tyler Smith from Attoxhall Road, Coventry appeared before Coventry Magistrates Court this morning (Wednesday, June 14).
He was remanded in custody and will appear at Warwick Crown Court tomorrow.
Mr Nesmith was found with stab wounds. He was taken to hospital, but died from his injuries.
A 23-year-old woman, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been bailed while enquiries continue.
Mark’s mother Linda said: “Our darling son Mark was a fun loving caring, talented young man who will be badly missed by all that knew him, our hearts are broken.”
