FORMER Coventry City and West Bromwich Albion striker Lee Hughes will be getting his own star studded testimonial, dubbed ‘The Final Whistle’ at Redditch United’s Trico Stadium.

Hughes scored 15 goals in 44 appearances for the Sky Blues in the 2001/2 season and netted 342 in his 762-match career.

At his testimonial at 2pm on June 25, a West Brom 11 will take on a Midlands All Star team.

Among the big names turning out will be Premier League record appearance-holder Gareth Barry, former Wigan, Fulham and Hull City footballer Jimmy Bullard and ex-Baggies player and manager Darren Moore.

Dean Windass and Peter Odemwingie are among the attacking talent to be on display at the testimonial.

Hughes, 45, first made his debut for Kidderminster Harriers in 1994.

He is perhaps most famous for his spell at West Bromwich Albion, where he had two spells between 1997 and 2001 and 2002 until 2004.

He chose Redditch United as, despite never playing for them, his son turns out for the club’s under 10 side.

Speaking on the clubs Reds Radio podcast, Lee added: “For my son to see me play one last time and hopefully if we can get him on the pitch for the last few minutes that would be amazing.”

Tickets are £10 each and £5 for under-18s.
