AN 86-YEAR-OLD woman has been killed in a crash between a car and a lorry in Coventry.
Emergency services were called after a Rover 75 collided with a HGV vehicle on London Road, at the Tollbar Island, just before 2.50pm yesterday (Sunday December 6).
The victim – who was a passenger in the car – suffered serious injuries and was sadly confirmed dead soon afterwards.
West Midlands Police along with two ambulances, two paramedic officers and The Air Ambulance Service Critical Care Car attended the scene.
Police say the drivers remained at the scene and are assisting with enquiries.
A police spokesperson said: “We’re working to establish the circumstances around the collision and would urge anyone who was in the area – and not already spoken to us – to come forward.
“We’re particularly keen to hear from anyone with dash cam footage.”
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The Critical Care Car arrived very quickly from its base at Coventry Airport. On arrival, they found a car that had suffered significant damage.
“Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of the medics and ambulance staff, nothing could be done to save the woman and she was confirmed dead at the scene.
“The driver of the car was able to get out of the vehicle himself. He was assessed and found to be unhurt and was discharged at scene.”
