Fans meet Sky Blues 1987 FA Cup hero

Coventry Editorial 6th Nov, 2014 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016

SKY Blues FA Cup hero Dave Bennett met with fans and posed for pictures at the official opening of Keresley Supermarket.

The former midfielder, who scored one and set up another during the club’s famous 1987 FA Cup win over Tottenham Hotspur, was on-hand to re-open the supermarket on Saturday morning.

Fans were encouraged to take a selfie with Bennett and a replica model of the FA Cup was also on show.

Bennett shared his memories of that eventful day on May 16, 1987 and he provided plenty of anecdotes about the Sky Blues’ management duo of George Curtis and John Sillett and the rest of his team mates.

Lucky Chez Lowe from Kersley meets his idol Dave Bennett and gets his hands on the FA cup. 45.014.001.cov.jm2
