EIGHT-year-old Coventry City fan Jame Rodgers’ ‘dream came true’ at Wembley when young midfield star Ben Stevenson handed him his boots.
Mum Lisa Rodgers, of Coundon, told us: “We were near the front to the right of the tunnel after the players were handed the trophy on the pitch in front of us.
“I just asked Ben Stevenson if he would mind having a photo taken with our little boy.
“Then he just handed his boots to James. I thought it was amazing and James was ecstatic.
“It’s made my little boy’s dreams come true. His face was a picture. His mouth opened wide in amazement. He was made up.
“He’s taken them to school (Christ The King in Coundon) this morning to show his friends.
“He didn’t want to take them off when he went to sleep. He didn’t want to get rid of the Wembley turf on them.
“He kept them by his bed and he woke up as high as a kite.”
Coventry City’s 2-1 victory against Oxford United in yesterday’s Checkatrade Trophy final was the Sky Blues’ first trip to Wembley since 1987 when they won the FA Cup – which Lisa missed because of a family wedding. So the whole day was a dream come true for her too. She took this picture of Ben’s boots handover.
