EIGHT people have now been arrested after a disturbance in Exhall yesterday morning which lead to a death.

It happened around 8.45am in Treviscoe Close.

West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedics administered life support to a 72-year-old man but nothing could be done to save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Another man and a woman were medically assessed and treated for minor injuries.

Warwickshire Police arrested five people yesterday – a 44-year-old man on suspicion of murder and four other people for their alleged part in the disturbance.

Officers said it was a contained incident, all of the suspects lived in Exhall and it was being treated as an isolated incident with no threat to the wider community.

This morning three women – aged 36, 38 and 41 – were all arrested for alleged violent disorder.

Det Ch Insp Jon Belcher said the man’s next of kin had been informed and a full investigation was underway to establish the cause and circumstances that led to his death.

“It is believed that all the people involved in the disturbance were known to each other.

“Exhall residents should not be concerned by the large police presence today as a full forensic examination of the area and house to house enquiries are made to establish the facts.”

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information, CCTV or video footage to call them on 101.
