A MAN has died after a two-vehicle crash on the M6 this morning.

It happened between Junction 3 (Bedworth / Coventry) and Junction 2 (the Ansty interchange).

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances and a paramedic officer to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Sadly, it quickly became clear nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed deceased on scene.

“The passenger of the same vehicle, a man, was treated for minor injuries and discharged at the scene.”

The road is likely was closed for a while and traffic was heavier on the A444 through Coventry.

Official diversions were now in place via A444 into Coventry, A428 out of the city towards Binley, then A46 north to rejoin the M6 at Junction 2.

Drivers should ‘follow the hollow square’, say highways bosses.

For traffic exiting the M6 at Junction 4 and using the M42 and A45, drivers be mindful of A45 delays at Meriden due to roadworks.

The carriageway remains closed for ongoing collision investigation and vehicle recovery.

There is 3.3miles worth of congestion on the approach to Junction 3, bringing delays of up to an hour.

Drivers should avoid the area and follow the diversions which have been put in place.
