Coventry's National Express services to expand

Coventry Editorial 17th Jul, 2020   0

NATIONAL Express Coventry is increasing its 20, 20A and 20C bus services from Sunday (July 19).

The 20 service between Coventry, Bedworth and Nuneaton will have a new timetable, with more buses and earlier journeys to and from Nuneaton.

The 20A between Coventry city centre and University Hospital will add new journeys, including extra Sunday morning journeys.

And the route of the 20C between Coventry city centre and Potters Green will be extended beyond Lentons Lane to Potters Green.

The changes mean there is once again a bus every five minutes between Foleshill and Coventry city centre, Monday to Saturday daytimes.

Chris Gibbens, commercial director at National Express UK Bus, said: “As the government continues to relax the lockdown rules, National Express Coventry continues to increase services to safely accommodate more customers back onto our buses.

“Our January extension of the 20 service to Nuneaton was welcomed by many, so I am pleased to say that from July 19 it will return to its pre-pandemic frequency, running up to every 20 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime, with new earlier journeys to and from Nuneaton.

“We are asking customers to work with us and help keep fellow passengers safe by following the latest government legislation. The rules state that passengers must wear face coverings on public transport unless they are exempt.

“We’ve enhanced our vehicle cleaning regimes to reduce the risk of contact with the coronavirus, including extra cleaning of shared surface areas. And our cleaning teams are jumping on buses at bus stations, key interchanges and stops to wipe down mid-route.

“Our buses are also being deep cleaned by “fogging” – an aerosol-based disinfection containing a high-performance antiviral solution that settles in the hard-to-reach areas.”

Throughout the lockdown, National Express Coventry has been working closely with Transport for West Midlands through the Bus Alliance. The bus operator is continuing to monitor passenger numbers and will change services where it’s needed.
