Coventry's Evtec Automotive appealing for donations to help Ukrainians who have fled to Poland

COVENTRY’S Evtec Automotive has had an overwhelming response to its appeal for donations to help Ukrainian refugees currently in Poland.

The firm co-ordinated collections from its Tile Hill base after asking for a variety of donations from medical supplies, hygiene products and nappies to torches and batteries and items for children, including colouring books and crayons.

Some food stuffs and bottles of water are also being accepted.

The most urgent items needed are blankets, sleeping bags, hot water bottles and thermos flasks as it remains very cold over there at the minute.

Manging Director Kevin Hubbard said: “Like many people and businesses, we were extremely saddened and upset to see the images coming out of Ukraine.”

He added the company wanted to help where it could and – thanks to the generosity of employees and owners – a sizeable financial donation will be paid to UNICEF to support its efforts.

“We wanted to see if there was any more we could do and decided we could use the assets of our business to act as a central point for collecting and managing donations to go to any people fleeing the conflict in Ukraine.”

So far the amount of donations have fill three containers and – after initially appealing for good quality clothes – Evtec now has enough of those.

The company wants to thank everyone who has donated so far.

Logistics partner Espace Global Freight will cover the cost of getting the much-needed provisions to the refugees in Poland who need them.

Anyone wanting to donate items should call Jane Billson on 07968 191641 for more information and updates on what is needed.
