Coventry's Christmas Village opens in Broadgate today

Coventry Editorial 28th Nov, 2016 Updated: 28th Nov, 2016   0

RESIDENTS can take a walk in a winter wonderland as the city’s Christmas Village opens today (Monday).

Broadgate has been filled with traditional cabins, decked out in decorations, to give the city centre that extra festive feel.

Unlike last year, this year will see a number of new businesses taking up residence in the cabins each week – giving shoppers the chance to see what’s new since their last visit.

An array of tasty treats will be served up and the drinks area is back with a bang – offering everything from beers, mulled wine and something new with a Prosecco bar.

A wrapping station has been installed so shoppers can wrap their gifts before returning home to place them under the tree, while youngsters will be kept entertained with a fairground featuring a big wheel and carousel.

Coventry BID manager, Trish Willetts, said: “We have so many varied and wonderful businesses joining us this year for the Christmas Village.

“There will be so much to see and do and the whole family is catered for with shopping, rides and a fantastic bar area.

“Come down, buy some amazing gifts for the family, get into the festive spirit and remember that Coventry has Christmas all wrapped up.”

The Christmas Village has been organised jointly by Coventry Business Improvement District (BID) and the council and will be open each day between 10am and 6pm.

The bar area will be open from 12noon until 9pm.
