Coventry University graduate wins project management award

Coventry Editorial 26th Jun, 2022   0

COVENTRY University graduate Anujan Metheus has won the Association of Project Management (APM) Student of the Year Award for his work to prepare the city for the electric car revolution.

Anujan led a team who delivered a project delivery plan for Coventry City Council to install 39 taxi Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV) chargers to promote environmentally friendly transport in the city centre.

The team identified 15 locations for the chargers before deciding where it would be best to put them.

They then worked with outside stakeholders on the project to analyse the risks and work to a budget.

Anujan presented the project to a team of judges following his nomination for the APM Midlands Branch award, which he won before going on to scoop the national student of the year during the Festival of Education and Research.

The 24-year-old graduated from Coventry University with a masters in engineering project management last year.

He decided on Coventry University while working on a placement with Bosch due to the course being accredited by APM.

Anujan said: “With the UK’s goal being to end the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2030, it was great to work on a project which could have real-world applications.

“My lecturer at Coventry came to me and said they wanted to nominate me for it, but it was a bit nerve-wracking presenting it to the judges.

“I’m so proud, it’s such an honour to have been given the award, it did come as a surprise.”
