COVENTRY City Council, in partnership with Coventry BID, has put together a full programme of entertainment for the big Christmas lights switch on in Broadgate on Wednesday (November 25).
The event will start at 5.30pm and feature a whole host of family entertainment with live music, special guests from Wasps, Coventry City FC, Coventry Blaze and Coventry Rugby Club amongst others.
British music sensation Conor Maynard will headline a bumper night of fun filled activity, to celebrate the switch on and also the launch of late night Christmas shopping in the city centre in style.
X Factor contestant Ben Clark from Bedworth will also be taking to the stage for one of his biggest live performances since making it through to judges houses on this year’s show.
Councillor Kevin Maton, Cabinet Member for Business, Enterprise and Employment said: “We recognise that Christmas is the most important period for city traders and by linking directly with the Coventry BID, we have been able to put on a great Christmas event for all the family to enjoy.
“Events like the Switch On are always popular and people do look forward to coming into the city centre to enjoy the festivities, do a little late night shopping and of course take advantage of the free parking available after 3pm!”
Ever-popular children’s favourite The Gruffalo will also be wandering around and saying hello to the crowds and maybe posing for a picture or two.
