Coventry Police plea for fans to enjoy the game and behave ahead of Sky Blues' derby with Birmingham

COVENTRY Police have appealed to both sets of supporters to enjoy tonight’s Championship encounter between the Sky Blues and Birmingham City.

The match kicks off at the Coventry Building Society Arena at 7.45pm and will be the first time in two years the teams have met at the ground.

Last season and the season before Birmingham were Coventry’s ‘landlords’ as the Sky Blues played their home matches at St Andrew’s.

The return to the Arena has worked wonders with Coventry firmly in a play-off place in fifth – nine points and ten places above their West Midlands neighbours.

A Coventry Police spokesperson said: “We’re looking forward to the derby game this evening.

“As you’d expect, we’ve been working closely with both clubs and fan groups to help make the game safe and secure.”

He urged if any police assistance was needed or fans saw or heard anything they were concerned about, they should speak to officers – who would be patrolling – or the club’s stewards.
