POSITIVE Images Festival has announce a new event, Poetry Karaoke, hosted by Coventry’s first Poet Laureate, Emilie Lauren Jones.
The free event is funded by The ASDA Foundation, and will take place on July 13 from 2pm to 4pm at Cheylesmore Community Centre in Coventry.
The new concept of poetry karaoke allows people to choose poems from a folder – as well as their own poems – and read them into a mic.
There will be the opportunity to meet local authors who write for children and adults with the opportunity to buy signed copies of their books.
Event host Emilie said: “Positive Images Festival is dedicated to offering free access to the arts and has been doing this successfully in our city for 30 years now.
“I am a firm believer that reading poetry aloud has the power to boost confidence and spark meaningful conversations.
“It is also my goal to show how much fun poetry can be.”
