Coventry man arrested for secretly filming naked young girl for sexual gratification

A COVENTRY man who made headlines over a photographer’s incompetent pictures of his wedding has been arrested for taking pictures of his own – of a naked young girl.

Gary Crack pleaded not guilty when he appeared at Warwick Crown Court to face charges of voyeurism for sexual gratification and taking indecent photographs of a child.

But a judge described his denials as ‘the last desperate throw of the dice’ by a man who had been caught – and suggested his barrister speak to him again about his pleas.

He had covertly filmed a 15-year-old girl when he was at a private address, and the images of her had been found on his phone, Judge Peter Cooke pointed out.

Sophie Murray, defending, responded: “He says there is material which will demonstrate a non-sexual motive.”

But when he came back into court, Miss Murray asked for the charges to be put again, and Crack (36) of Stoney Stanton Road, Coventry, changed his pleas to guilty.

Judge Cooke told Crack: “The reason I intervened was not just out of concern for [the girl], it was out of concern for you.

“I understand it is very difficult to face up to this behaviour, but I didn’t want you to take a bad situation and make it worse.

“I am sure you did the right thing to change your stance. You have made it possible for the court to deal with you in a more lenient way.”

He adjourned the case for a pre-sentence report to be prepared on Crack, who was granted bail with conditions that he does not contact the girl or go to her address, and that he has no unsupervised contact with any child.

Crack and his wife had made the news in 2013 over the calamitous pictures taken by a professional photographer of their wedding.

They included one in which the couple’s heads had been chopped off, another in which his hand was in front of her face, one of his wife arriving for the ceremony with a rubbish bin dominating the foreground, one of them descending stairs at their reception – from behind, and a blurred image of their first dance.
