Coventry Lord Mayor visits city nursery's young mathematicians

Coventry Editorial 8th Nov, 2016

BUDDING mathematicians at a city nursery received a special visit from Coventry’s Lord Mayor.

Coun Lindsley Harvard visited Busy Bees Nursery in Walsgrave to check out the tots’ skills with numbers.

His visit came as part of the nursery’s ‘Nurturing Problem Solving to Mathematics’ initiative, which helps children of all age-groups – from babies to pre-school learn to be confident with numbers.

Nursery manager, Claire Shaw, said: “During the visit from the Lord Mayor he visited all seven rooms in our nursery where the

senior room managers explained the mathematics activities being carried out with the children and the learning intention behind it.

“The children embraced the visit from him which is evident in our photographs.

“The Lord Mayor commented on how fantastic the nursery is and also stayed for a lovely cream tea afterwards.”
