COVENTRY Cathedral is set to host a celebration of the late Sky Blues manager and chairman Jimmy Hill, who died on December 19, 2015 at the age of 87.

The celebration of life will take place at 5.30pm on Friday, February 12th at 5.30pm ahead of the club’s home game against Bury.

The event will celebrate the life of Jimmy and his contribution across football and broadcasting – including guiding Coventry City Football Club from the third tier to the top flight of English football in the 1960s.

Leading tributes to the late Mr Hill, former Coventry City player and boss, Bobby Gould said: “Everything I have at this moment in time I owe to that man.

“As a manager and an individual I’ll never come across the likes of him ever again.

“His knowledge of the fame was phenomenal, his understanding of individuals was just brilliant.”

In a statement from Coventry City FC, the club said further details of the event – including how to obtain tickets – would be confirmed in the coming weeks.
