Coventry carers named as finalists in Great British Care Awards

TWO CARERS at a Coventry care home have been voted finalists in the Great British Care Awards.

Care assistant Emma Mullen and chef Gillian Craythorne at Herald Lodge care home on Canley Road, were named finalists for the West Midlands region at the awards in recognition of their dedication to residents at the home.

Emma was nominated for the Care Home Worker Award, with Gillian being up for the Care Home Cook/Chef Award after being nominated by colleagues, relatives and residents.

Residents at Herald Lodge, which is operated by Ideal Carehomes, are said to have been thrilled that the duo were selected as finalists, and even though they didn’t win their categories at the awards, they are ‘all winners’ in their.

Eileen Williams, who has lived at Herald Lodge for over two years, said: “They deserve it, they enjoy working here and they work really hard.”

The judges were looking for care professionals who stood out to them by providing a consistently high standard of care, respecting residents’ privacy and dignity, with evidence of dedication and ‘going the extra mile’.

Ideal Carehomes’ regional director for the West Midlands, Allison Boyle, said: “We were so excited to have two members of staff from Herald Lodge as Great British Care Awards finalists in the West Midlands and over thirty throughout Ideal homes.

“All our staff are so dedicated and committed and there is a real family feel at Herald Lodge, which must have come across to the judges.

“Our staff really make Ideal homes great places to live and it is great that the Care Awards raise the profile of the care sector as a whole.”

Herald Lodge is committed to offering their residents lifestyle choices and an active social environment with events, trips and daily activities.
