Coventry care provider receives first 'outstanding' rating in region by watchdog

A HOMECARE provider has become to the first in Coventry and South Warwickshire to be rated ‘outstanding’.

Home Instead Senior Care Coventry South has become part of just one per cent of adult social care services to receive the top rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Inspectors found relatives were universally happy with the service people received.

In an email thanking the care staff, one relative said: “In choosing your company to care for the most precious person in our lives at such a vulnerable and traumatic time was not a light decision we took – it was vital your ethos, approach and drive for quality personalised care was not just stated in your website but that your teams enacted those values and approach every moment of giving care – that has never wavered and for that we are truly grateful.”

Caregivers were praised in the report for helping clients remain as independent as possible and supporting them with ‘dignity, kindess and respect’ – drawing up individual care plans, detailing the persons likes, dislikes and preferences as well as their medical conditions.

One member of staff was singled out for going above and beyond the duty of care – arriving early in order to wash and dry the person’s clothes because they wanted to wear the same outfit every day.

Set up by Warwickshire businessmen Phil Wright-Howarth and Phil Maundrill in 2014, Home Instead Senior Care aims to provide a service which would enable older people to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible, while improving their quality of life.

The duo’s unique approach sees them aim to ensure all the care they provide passes ‘the mum test’ – a standard good enough for their own mothers.

Phil Maundrill said: “We work hard to find the right staff with the right attitude.

“Once they join us it’s really important to ensure they feel valued and appreciated – which they very much are.

“This outstanding report bears testament to their hard work and dedication and the excellent relationships they develop with our clients.”

Co-owner Phil Wright-Howarth added: “The service we provide assures the safety and wellbeing of our clients and brings peace of mind to their families.

“The ‘outstanding’ rating we have received from the CQC confirms that we are getting it right.

“We are truly putting the care back into caring and I am delighted that this has been recognised by CQC.”

Home Instead Senior Care Coventry South is part of a national network of over 175 Home Instead offices, which is currently ranked number one provider of home care to the elderly by healthcare information specialists, LaingBuisson.
