A BUSINESS support programme in Coventry and Warwickshire has been awarded an additional £507,000 which will allow it to continue its work until at least 2023.

Business Ready was launched in 2016 and is run by the University of Warwick Science Park.

It has helped companies across the region to raise more than £9million through either grants or investment which has resulted in the creation of more than 140 jobs at tech-based Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

Between 2019 and 2021 Business Ready has liaised with more than 600 companies and given long-term assistance to over 100 businesses.

It has also helped 27 high-growth potential companies through their first few years establishing themselves and has upskilled 870 people through over 90 workshops.

The programme is partly funded by Warwickshire County Council and the European Regional Development Fund, and is part of the CW Business – Start, Grow and Scale Programme.

Business Ready’s programme manager, Ian McFarlane- Toms said the extra funding announcement was positive news for the regional economy.

He added: “When the programme was started, it was with an understanding of what businesses really needed if they were going to grow quickly.

“The feedback from the businesses we’ve helped has been extremely positive.

“We are looking forward to helping many more companies between now and the end of the programme.”
