Coventry and Warwickshire among worst in country for unpaid prescriptions

BOTH Coventry and Warwickshire and Birmingham and Solihull have made it into the top ten areas in the UK for the highest amount of unpaid prescriptions.

The figures have been released by health experts at Now Patient which submitted a Freedom of Information (FOI) request to the NHS Business Services Authority.

The research reveals areas in the UK where the most fines have been issued per 100,000 people because of unpaid prescription charges in 2022.

NHS Birmingham and Solihull was fifth with 531 fines and 8,611 cases among its population of 1,622,642.

NHS Coventry and Warwickshire, which has a population of 1,006,172, had 5,264 cases and 523 fines, placing it seventh in the list.

The worst place in the country was NHS Greater Manchester which had 20,612 cases and 617 fines among its 3,339,394 population.
