City's lock gates and canal basin targeted as Visit Historic Coventry litter-pickers get busy

A TIDY-UP took place on Sunday, organised by Scott Duffin from Visit Historic Coventry Litter Picking and Maintenance Group.

Scott, his son and three Coventry tour guide representatives, targeted the lock gates and canal basin, a long lost monument in the city – Lock Gates by Ondre Nawakowski.

During the session, the group covered over graffiti, cut back overgrown trees and removed plants, as well as the rubbish clearance.

In total they collected two bags of litter, four bags of foliage and a car boot full of foliage.

Scott said: “The day was planned by myself a few days in advance and five of us turned up to take on the task.

“During the clean up we had the police turn up and thank us for the job we were doing and a resident from the tower block behind.”

More litter-picks are being planned for the future.
