THE CO-op on Ansty Road, Coventry has re-opened after a £198,000 revamp, writes Amy Ford.

The food store is welcoming customers back to the new-look store which boasts a range of new facilities, including an off-licence section, self scanning tills, an Amazon locker and digital photo booth.

Steve Browne, the General Manager of the Food Division at the Heart of England Co-operative Society said: “We have carefully selected a range of new features which we believe suits the requirements of the modern-day shopper.”

He added that due to all of its new resources this Co-op was ‘more than just somewhere to shop.’

Children from Richard Lee Primary School and many other guests were invited to cut the ribbon to launch the store’s new look.

Other additions to the shop include advanced security measures, headsets for staff and energy efficient refrigeration and lighting.

As part of their partnership with the mobile app Gander, the Co-operative Society has also introduced a new click and collect system which allows buyers to snap up reduced-to-clear items from the shelves, reducing the amount of food waste from the store.

Shoppers can download the Gander app from the Apple and Google play stores.
